The Rueda Designation of Origin was recognized on January 12, 1980 by an order of the Ministry of Agriculture and was the\u00a0<\/span>first DO in Castilla y Le\u00f3n<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

The protected production area is made up of 74 municipalities, of which 53 are located in the south of the province of Valladolid, 17 in the west of Segovia and 4 in the north of \u00c1vila. The largest vineyard area is concentrated in the municipalities of Serrada, La Seca and Rueda, where Finca Montepedroso is located.<\/p>

The municipality of Rueda is nestled between two hills <\/span>bathed by the Zapardiel river<\/strong>. Its name is linked to wine and, probably, since Roman times there have been vineyards in the locality with the Verdejo variety as the main variety. <\/span>autochthonous grape<\/strong> characteristic capable of resisting cold and drought.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rueda today lives from and for the cultivation of vineyards, winemaking and tourism. In this sense, it also has an important historical-artistic ensemble. The baroque Church of Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de la Asunci\u00f3n<\/strong> was built in the eighteenth century and surprises with a beautiful facade by Pedro de Sierra. In the interior, it is necessary to observe its main altarpiece, a carved wooden lectern and the Hispanic-Flemish triptych of the XVI century of painting on board in the sacristy, which can be visited by contacting the Town Hall.<\/p><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Ermita de la Cuba<\/strong> is another unique building, so named because the neighbors poured wine into a vat and then sold it to obtain money to finance its construction. It is made of brick as a whole, although the door and entrance are made of stone. It keeps an altarpiece with a Crucified Christ of the XVII century and a bust of the Dolorosa of the XVIII century.<\/p>\n

On a small hill, with a nice panoramic view of the whole village, we find the Ermita de San Jos\u00e9<\/strong>, a recent construction, but worth a visit to enjoy the scenery.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
