The grape harvest marks the end of the vine cycle, but it does not always mean the end of the harvest. After harvesting most of the bunches, there are some grapes left on the vines that went unnoticed or were not fully ripe at the time. This is the origin of the “rebusca”<\/strong>, an agricultural tradition with centuries of history that today we can revive at Finca Antigua. <\/p>\n\n

Historical origin of the rebusca<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Gleaning has been documented for hundreds of years in Spain and in other wine-growing regions of Europe. Once the grape harvest was over, and with municipal permission, both neighbors and outsiders could go through the vineyards to collect the grapes that remained on the vines. It was an act of community and solidarity<\/strong>, which made it possible to make the most of the harvest. They found in these straggling grapes, an extra resource to feed themselves or to make homemade wine. <\/p>\n\n
