Wine can be enjoyed in many ways, but wine tasting is one of the most enriching<\/strong>. It is not only about drinking wine, but also about observing, smelling, tasting and understanding it. Through tasting we learn how the vineyard, climate, grape variety or winemaking decisions influence each bottle. <\/p>\n\n

There are different tasting formats that allow you to analyze wine from different angles. Some are designed for technical training, others to compare styles or simply to enjoy wine in company. Below, we review six very common types of tasting<\/strong> that help to better understand the world of wine. <\/p>\n\n

Vertical tasting<\/h2>\n\n

In a vertical tasting<\/strong>, different vintages of the same wine<\/strong> are tasted. That is, different vintages produced by the same winery and usually from the same vineyard or plot. <\/p>\n\n

Thanks to a vertical tasting it is possible to discover how a young wine develops greater aromatic complexity<\/strong>, how the tannins<\/a> are integrated or how tertiary notes from the evolution in the bottle appear. It also helps to understand the <\/strong>aging potential of a wine<\/a> and its capacity to age. <\/p>\n\n

For all these reasons, vertical tasting is one of the most interesting experiences for those who want to delve into the evolution of wine over time.<\/p>\n\n

Horizontal tasting<\/h2>\n\n

The horizontal tasting<\/strong> works in the opposite way to the vertical tasting. In this case, wines of the same vintage<\/strong> are tasted , but from different wineries or vineyards<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

For example, a tasting of <\/strong> Cantosde Valpiedra 2021<\/a> and <\/strong>Vi\u00f1a Bujanda Crianza 2021.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n
