Some come to ask about the barrels, others to tour the vineyard, and still others choose us to taste wine right where it\u2019s made. <\/p>\n\n

To celebrate World Wine Tourism Day<\/strong>, observed on the second Sunday in November, we\u2019d like to suggest three profiles and a tour for each one at the Familia Mart\u00ednez Bujanda estates.<\/p>\n\n

Which of these experiences best fits you?<\/p>\n\n

1. The Curious One: You want to understand and learn all the secrets of wine\u2014not just drink it<\/h2>\n\n

When you visit a winery, you ask why that variety is grown, how the soil affects it, or what happens during aging. If someone mentions the lees, you already have three questions ready. <\/p>\n\n

Your farm:<\/strong> Finca Montepedroso<\/strong><\/a>, in the Rueda D.O.<\/strong> Its 25 hectares of vineyards, at an altitude of about 750 meters, are entirely dedicated to growing Verdejo grapes. The winemaking technique involves aging on the lees, which adds complexity and texture to its wines. <\/p>\n\n

Your visit:<\/strong> The vertical tasting at Finca Montepedroso<\/a> compares the same wine across three vintages, highlighting the unique characteristics of each harvest. If you\u2019d prefer to enjoy the scenery as well, the \u201cOrigen Montepedroso\u201d<\/a> tour combines a vineyard tour, a winery tour, a guided tasting, and local specialties. <\/p>\n\n

2. The Explorer: For you, the getaway begins outdoors as you discover new landscapes<\/h2>\n\n

You’re just as interested in the land as you are in the wine. You prefer to explore the estate, discover new trails, and understand how a landscape finds its way into your glass. <\/p>\n\n

Your property:<\/strong> Finca Antigua<\/strong><\/a>, in La Mancha.<\/strong> Located in the province of Cuenca, at an elevation of over 900 meters, in a setting where the 421 hectares of vineyards coexist with Mediterranean woodland and Iberian wildlife. Its 40 plots feature a variety of soil types, exposures, and both domestic and international grape varieties, and that diversity is evident in the wines. <\/p>\n\n

Your tour:<\/strong> the premium Pico Garbanzo<\/a> tour, which takes you to the vineyard where Clavis<\/a> originates, where you\u2019ll enjoy a tasting in the vineyard, accompanied by rosemary-cured Manchego cheese. Afterward, you\u2019ll visit the winery, enjoy a wine tasting, and sample tapas pairings. <\/p>\n\n

3. The “place of origin” option: you want to taste the wine where it comes from<\/h2>\n\n

It’s not enough for you to know where a wine comes from: you want to learn about Spain’s oldest Designation of Origin and find out what sets it apart from the rest.<\/p>\n\n

Your farm:<\/strong> Finca Valpiedra<\/strong><\/a>, in the Rioja DOCa.<\/strong> It is situated on a bend in the Ebro River, in the Rioja Alta region. Its 80 hectares of vineyards are spread across three terraces of boulders, which define the character of its wines. <\/p>\n\n

This landscape, shaped by the river over time, offers a unique way to experience the vineyard and understand how the characteristics of a region influence winemaking.<\/p>\n\n

Your visit:<\/strong> ” The Soul of Valpiedra<\/a> “\u2014you\u2019ll tour the vineyard in a 4×4, see the terraces and soil up close, and learn about the work done on the estate throughout the year. The experience continues at the winery with a tasting of Cantos de Valpiedra<\/a> and Finca Valpiedra Reserva<\/a>, paired with local Riojan specialties. <\/p>\n\n
