Familia Martínez Bujanda, combining the latest technology with respect for tradition.

Familia Martínez Bujanda is a family saga that has been dedicated to grape growing and winemaking for more than 130 years. For this reason, we are aware of the importance of tradition and respect for custom in the winemaking field, not in vain we are the descendants of a whole tradition dedicated to the work of trying to get the best possible fruit in our terroirs.
Today, the fourth and fifth generations of our family are at the helm of a project that extends its roots in the winemaking tradition. For decades we have sought excellence in our wines, incorporating vineyards in vineyards with their own identity and being attentive to the latest technological developments that allow us to take greater care of the fruit of our work.
At present, Familia Martínez Bujanda is made up of five wineries:
Finca Valpiedra
(DOCa Rioja),
Finca Antigua
(DO La Mancha),
Finca Montepedroso
(DO Rueda),
Viña Bujanda
(DOCa Rioja) and
Harvesters and Breeders
(Vinos de la tierra de Castilla). We make our wines from our own vineyards, but with the diversity and richness of very different growing areas.
Technology applied to viticulture is a resource that Familia Martínez Bujanda uses to seek excellence in its wines. But that does not imply leaving aside natural resources and traditions. For this reason, in our wineries we combine the latest technological advances with other customary techniques. Because, for us, nature rules and its respect and care is the main guarantee of the future of our vineyards.
For example, in our wineries we prune in the waning moon because the sap does not flow as strongly, it is more concentrated at the root and the vine heals faster. This way we benefit the vine to the maximum. We also use in our vineyards infusions of nettles, tobacco and chamomile, whose chemical properties benefit and protect the vines in an organic and natural way. In addition, in our vineyards we use our own pruning remains as fertilizer, as well as the organic remains from the winery such as grape stalks and grape skins.
But at the same time, technological advances are very present in our wineries. As an example,
at Finca Antigua we use nanotechnology to optimize water resources.
resources of the farm. This system emits a quantum that interacts with the hydrogen bonds of the water molecules, increasing the penetration capacity of the water in the soil. This results in less dense water, which is more easily absorbed and used by the vine. Another resource we use is the placement of
artificial grass
in our vineyards, which, while reducing soil evaporation, prevents grass from growing in the vicinity of the vines.
At Martínez Bujanda Family we understand that technology must be used to improve all those details that influence the quality of winemaking, but without neglecting the respect for the tradition that has made our family one of the most outstanding winemaking sagas in Spain.
