The ProWein international trade fair brings together more than 44,000 professionals from the world of wine

Strong presence of Spanish brands

The new edition of this international trade fair brought together more than 4,700 exhibitors from 48 different countries and more than 44,000 professional visitors between March 24 and 26 in the German city of Düsseldorf.

The Spanish presence was represented by more than 159 wineries, including the Familia Martínez Bujanda winery group, under the umbrella of “Wine from Spain”.

The ProWein International Fair was recently held in the German city of Düsseldorf. According to the organizers, the fair was a success with a total of 4,783 exhibitors from 48 countries, including 159 Spanish firms.

Under the title “Wines from Spain” ICEX and the Economic and Commercial Office in Düsseldorf have brought together these 159 wineries in the Spanish pavilion at the fair. Among them, the wines of the Familia Martínez Bujanda winery group, which could be tasted at the winery group’s own stand in the ICEX pavilion.

In addition, the Rioja Appellation of Origin pavilion and the Rueda Appellation of Origin stand were also attended by Finca Valpiedra and Finca Montepedroso, respectively.

Spanish wine exports to Germany exceeded 2.5 billion euros in 2012, 11.9% more than in 2011.

The organizers have highlighted the strong increases in the number of visitors from European countries such as Great Britain, Scandinavia, Benelux, France, Spain and Italy, as well as from North America and Asia.

They also highlighted the increased presence at the event of wine producers from China, Tunisia and Lebanon, and the growing interest in the offer of Australia, New Zealand and Chile, and “organic” products.

For its part, the spirits segment at ProWein had nearly 400 exhibitors showcasing specialties from all over the world, such as tequila from Mexico, herbal liqueur from Norway or “Moutai” from China.
