Description
Flavors of the Ebro: Tasting and picnic by de Riverside
Flavors of the Ebro is a premium wine tourism experience at Finca Valpiedra, one of the wineries of Familia Martínez Bujanda, located in the heart of La Rioja Alta. Founded in 1999, the estate is part of the Asociación Grandes Pagos de España, an exclusive group of wineries known for their unique vineyards and commitment to expressing authentic terroirs.
Finca Valpiedra follows a classic Bordeaux style, producing wines from a single estate vineyard. Its range includes Finca Valpiedra (its flagship reserve wine), Cantos de Valpiedra (crianza), Petra de Valpiedra (a limited edition 100% Garnacha), and Finca Valpiedra Reserva Blanco, a rare white wine. All wines reflect the estate’s distinctive stony soils and unique microclimate, which shape their character and quality.
This experience blends nature, culture, and gastronomy. It begins with a welcome wine followed by a guided tour of the winery, where visitors learn about the winemaking process. Guests then explore the vineyard—either by 4×4 vehicle or on foot—discovering the characteristics of the soil, grape varieties, and the vine’s vegetative cycle.
The visit concludes with an outdoor tasting of two of the estate’s most representative wines: Cantos de Valpiedra Crianza and Finca Valpiedra Reserva. Finally, participants enjoy a picnic on the banks of the Ebro River, surrounded by a unique natural landscape.
In case of bad weather, the picnic is moved indoors. Overall, this experience offers a complete and sustainable way to discover the world of wine in an exceptional setting.
*The 4×4 has capacity for 6 people plus the guide. If the group is larger, it can be done on foot or with the help of the client’s vehicle.
** In case of bad weather, it would be moved to a space inside the winery.
