Finca Antigua: the 2018 vintage is going to be excellent

There are times when circumstances come together, all the pieces that make up the puzzle of making great quality wines fit together and we get gifts like this year’s 2018 vintage at Finca Antigua. With an unbeatable summer and textbook weather conditions, the 2018 vintage is going to be magnificent throughout the La Mancha DO and particularly at Finca Antigua.
In the words of Lauren Rosillotechnical director at Finca Antigua and the rest of the Familia Martínez Bujanda wineries, “the summer has been unbeatable, all nights cool and without significant heat waves”, which together with a very rainy spring makes 2018 a “textbook” year, from which we expect a “mythical vintage”.

Finca Antigua is a particular case, if we take into account its characteristic and differentiated conditions. Our estate occupies nearly 1,000 hectares, with an altitude of over 900 meters, of which 421 hectares are vineyards and the rest is Mediterranean scrubland. The estate is divided into 40 different plots, in which we grow separately the different grapes of our wide varietal catalog, which includes from the national varieties of viura, garnacha, tempranillo and moscatel, to the international varieties merlot, cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and syrah.
The soils of Finca Antigua are mainly limestone and with an evident rusticity, which together with the high altitude of the land, allows us to produce unique and innovative wines that integrate a creative and avant-garde collection of varietals with aging.
Thanks to these conditions and the good weather conditions we have had this year, we expect the 2018 vintage of Finca Antigua to be a memorable one. We invite you all to try it and give your opinion… when it goes on sale, of course.
