Located in the town of Villarrobledo (Albacete), the Restaurant Azafrán offers a great variety of dishes of the best quality. In a cozy and comfortable atmosphere, the restaurant team offers its customers a unique dining experience in the heart of La Mancha.
Its chef and owner, Teresa GutierrezShe is a professional with a long career and extensive curriculum, who before starting her adventure with the Azafrán restaurant, had worked in restaurants such as La Sucursal, Las Rejas, under the command of Manolo de la Osa and El Bohio with Pepe Rodriguez. From these experiences and his love for his land was born this project in which he works to offer his customers the best example of modernized La Mancha cuisine.
The cuisine of the Azafrán restaurant is prepared with the best products from La Mancha, where they also take special care in pairing them with the wines, this section is managed by the charismatic Manuel Ortiz, Teresa’s partner. In its menu, there are more than one hundred references, among them the wines of Finca Antigua or Finca Montepedroso stand out. In the words of its owner “we get people to drink more wine because we work on this menu almost as much as the food menu, specifying everything very well, so that people’s attention is drawn to it and they dare to try new references“.
As for the dishes that can be found in the restaurant, we highlight the following as starters rich crunchy vegetable meatballs with soy sauce and honeya successful combination of octopus, cuttlefish, mushrooms and tender garlic in a sautéed dish, black pudding canutillos de morcilla de orzaor the traditional “ajopringue” of slaughter with apples and pine nuts.
As main courses, you can choose between roasted and boneless Manchego lamb with mushrooms, accompanied by migas ruleras, typical of the area, Iberian pork cheeks in white wine with smoked bacon or cod tacos with Manchego ratatouille and smoked eggplant cream.
In addition, Azafrán has a special menu, which was prepared for the visit of the Prince and Princess of Asturias to Villarrobledo in 2009, and can now be enjoyed by all customers of the restaurant for about 45 €.
