Spain has many destinations to spend the summer vacations, there are the main coastal cities that receive thousands of tourists during these months.
But have you ever thought about enjoying our inland tourism during the summer? There are many wineries and wine tourism destinations where you can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and relax surrounded by vineyards. And what better occasion than these months to visit Familia Martínez Bujanda’s estates?
The hidden corners of La Rioja and its rich heritage
La Rioja is a place that offers a multitude of activities related to nature, gastronomy, cultural heritage and, of course, wine tourism. You cannot leave without visiting Briones, Sajazarra or Ezcaray, villages that will win you over with their charm, the first two being part of the list of the Most Beautiful Villages of Spain. In addition, we recommend you to visit Laguardia: medieval town, capital of the Rioja Alavesa. Founded in the 10th century, it preserves almost intact the churches of San Juan Bautista and Santa María de Los Reyes. Its medieval layout, the access gates to the town and the remains of the walls will take you back in time.
Another must is a visit to the Monasteries of San Millán de la Cogolla, located in the foothills of the Sierra de la Demanda, its origin were the caves inhabited by hermits in the sixth century.
All this, together with a visit to Finca Valpiedra, will make your getaway to La Rioja a perfect trip.
With a building perfectly integrated into the environment, Finca Valpiedra has one of the most beautiful barrel rooms in the region.
Its 80-hectare vineyards are located on one of the spectacular meanders of the Ebro River as it passes through La Rioja. Its microclimate, influenced by the Sierra de Cantabria and the Sierra de la Demanda, and its type of soil composed of boulders and limestone make its wines have an unmistakable personality with a mineral, balsamic and structured character, without neglecting the elegance of a good Rioja. Enjoy the environment in 4×4 routes and a delicious picnic on the banks of the river. Make your reservation here.
The charm and personality of Verdejo from Rueda
Rueda is a municipality in the province of Valladolid, 15 minutes from the emblematic town of Medina del Campo. Declared a historic-artistic site, it is the nerve center of one of the most important white wine areas in Spain, and the place where it is located. Montepedroso Estate is located, one of the Grandes Pagos of Spain with 25 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level.
It is precisely its location, the type of plant, the three types of soils that make up the estate, and its night harvest that give Finca Montepedroso wines a unique personality in this area of Castilian Verdejo.
Why choose the Finca Montepedroso area as a vacation destination? In the surrounding area you will find great architectural works such as the Castillo de la Mota in Medina del Campo, the Real Monasterio de Santa Clara in Tordesillas or the Parque Temático del Mudéjar in Olmedo.
You can also enjoy nature, learning about the flora and fauna of the area in the Riberas de Castronuño Nature Reserve. All this paired with the authentic Verdejo of Finca Montepedroso.
Don Quixote’s home, the ideal destination
Miguel de Cervantes already said: “in a place of La Mancha, whose name I do not want to remember…” we find one of the natural and historical enclaves of Spain. Formed by the provinces of Albacete, Ciudad Real, Toledo and Cuenca, it is in the latter that we will stop to admire its main charms: rural and pastoral gastronomy, Lenten cuisine, sweets, its mycological production and, what we like the most, its wines.
Do you remember the windmills that Don Quixote referred to? They are located in the beautiful village of Campo de Criptana, in La Tierra de Gigantes. You can visit the windmills, its Interpretation Center of the Manchego Mill or the Albaicín Criptano Neighborhood: an ideal historic center for a pleasant walk and contemplate its houses with white facades, indigo plinth, Arab tiles and wrought iron grilles.
Undoubtedly, it is the perfect blend of wine tourism and tradition. An idyllic site. And it was precisely this that made Finca Antigua a true love at first sight for Familia Martínez Bujanda. After traveling through much of the national geography in search of a unique vineyard, they stumbled upon this extreme environment for vine cultivation.
Finca Antigua is the synergy between tradition and innovation, since it produces innovative and surprising wines without leaving behind the traditional elaborations of the area. Its diversity of varieties, form an avant-garde collection of wines to which we have just added the first orange wine, the orange wine of Familia Martínez Bujanda, Cueva del Granero Orange Wine.
Enjoy discovering the environment of the ingenious nobleman of La Mancha with a good Finca Antigua.
